Collaboration for the next level of sustainability and efficiency in electric drives

Bosch Research today announces the start of a strategic collaboration between Bosch Corporate Research and Advance Engineering and the University of Nottingham in the field of electric drives. Over a three-year period, Bosch Research and the University of Nottingham will conduct joint research focused on sustainability, vertical integration and efficiency aspects of electric drives.

With the University of Nottingham, we have gained a top academic partner: The Power Electronics, Machines and Control (PEMC) group at the University of Nottingham is one of the largest of its kind in the world, with more than 160 researchers and academics focusing on transport electrification and energy conversion.

This focus best fits the “Electrified Mobility and Systems” strategic portfolio of Bosch Research. As an innovation driver, Bosch is more broadly positioned in electrified mobility than any other company — from e-bikes to passenger cars to heavy commercial vehicles. The Bosch portfolio covers the complete spectrum of drive solutions: from drive systems such as the Bosch electric drive “eAxle” to components such as electric motors and inverters to silicon carbide chips. Bosch Research lays the foundation for the development of many of these successful products, which are created primarily through close cooperation between Bosch Research and the Bosch divisions.
