Bosch products face extraordinary challenges

In our social media series “Picked by the Internet”, the online community decides how we use our products in creative ways — whether in the garden, in the kitchen or on the street.

The community chooses, we deliver

Bosch products are familiar from everyday life — powerful, precise, and reliable. But what happens when the online community decides how the products are tested?
That's when it gets exciting and creative! With the social media series “Picked by the Internet,” Bosch products show what they are really made of and prove their versatility in a completely new way — whether in alien style, as a creative art challenge, or as a deceptively realistic cake creation. In this way, the everyday helpers are challenged in extraordinary ways and unfold their full potential.

The process is as dynamic as the community itself: Bosch supplies the products, but the participants set the direction. Through social media polls and votes, it is decided how the experiment will be carried out. Once the choice is made, the testing phase begins – from the initial planning to the final results, every moment is documented.

Surprising and interactive — when the Internet decides, every product becomes the main character in a unique series of tests.

Mission 1: From earth to the cosmos — Bosch garden tools put to the alien test

A man in a dark environment puts on safety goggles. The lighting creates a mystical atmosphere, indicating that something exciting is about to happen.

Now gardening goes intergalactic: In the very first “Picked by the Internet” mission, the community voted on an alien message, which was then transformed into an impressive crop circle pattern. With the help of Bosch gardening tools, a work of art was created on a huge lawn, which not only demonstrated the versatility of the products precisely, but also creatively.

Here’s how the voting went

In the foreground a voting bar with results: “I love aliens” with 59%, a UFO with 16% and a planet with 25%, in the background a dark grassy landscape.

The community had the choice: Which message should be mowed into the lawn as a huge pattern — ‘I love aliens,’ a UFO, or a planet? Through comments and votes on social media, numerous votes were cast. The discussion was lively and the decision was quickly made on a favorite. This was then transformed into a unique pattern using Bosch garden tools, which was met with great enthusiasm.

For this special “Picked by the Internet” challenge, a real night shift was put in to create something extraordinary. The shoot began in daylight: carefully marked lines on the lawn ensured that every track could be followed precisely once it got dark. As night fell, the real adventure began. With carefully positioned lighting and backlighting effects, a mystical atmosphere was created that perfectly highlighted the alien vibe. Then the garden tools came into play, showcasing their full potential — precise, reliable, and ideal for this extraordinary task.

Mission 2: Frida’s walk — art meets technology and four paws

A city map shows a GPS route that represents the shape of a dog. The route runs through various districts and over a bridge, with a symbol with a dog highlighting the start and finish positions.

The “Picked by the Internet” challenge entered its next round. This time, our sensor technology was put to the test — with Golden Retriever Frida playing the lead role. The task: Using state-of-the-art sensors, Frida's walk was to be transformed into a creative artwork. Step by step, a unique street map was created, beautifully merging technology and movement in a fascinating way.

The votes are in

A survey bar shows the results: 58% for a dog silhouette and 42% for paw prints. In the background, several jackets are hung on a wooden wall.

The community was asked again: which route should Frida run – a bone or a dog? People were able to vote on Instagram, and the turnout was huge. The vote led to exciting discussions and lots of comments. In the end, the choice quickly fell on a favorite, and Frida prepared for her first creative running route.

Frida went on tour with these sensors

Pressure sensor BMP581

Frida’s specialist for every incline and decline! The BMP581, typically found in wearables or hearables and shown here in a test device, was used for Frida’s adventure. As a specialist for any slope or drop, this highly precise pressure sensor detects even the smallest elevation changes — whether on parking decks, stairs, or inclines in the park. Even with weaker GPS signals, Frida’s position remains accurately documented, demonstrating how versatile this technology can be.

Magnetometer BMM350

The BMM350 keeps Frida on track! As a powerful magnetometer, this sensor provides precise orientation and reliably registers every change in direction. In combination with GPS or in signal-poor environments like tunnels or underpasses, the sensor enables continuous and accurate path tracking. By the way, all Bosch MEMS sensors are found in a variety of hearables and wearables, offering features like step counting, fitness tracking, and gesture recognition.

Behind the scenes — how the deceptively real cake was created

For this special “Picked by the Internet” challenge, a true master of her craft was brought on board: Pastry Chef Dominique, whose experience and creativity brought the idea to life. The challenge: Bosch kitchen appliances were to be deceptively recreated as cakes — created with the help of Bosch kitchen tools that made tasks like kneading and mixing easier for Dominique.

On the first day of shooting, Dominique used the Series 6 stand mixer to achieve the perfect dough consistency. The powerful technology ensured that the base for the later fondant coating was stable and moldable — the first crucial step toward a realistic final result.

On the second day of shooting, it was time for the finer details, which demanded all of Dominique's craftsmanship. Layer by layer, she shaped the fondant and recreated the individual features of the mixer — from buttons and handles to every contour. Precision work and years of experience resulted in a deceptively realistic replica, barely distinguishable from the original. It was an exciting process that not only the community could follow – the team on-site was also fascinated by this unique fusion of technology and pastry art.
